Work in Canada
Working in Canada provides an avenue for temporary immigration to Canada while gaining international experience in one of the most diverse countries in the world. It could also provide avenue for permanent immigration. Most foreign nationals will require a work permit to enter the Canadian labour market. Depending on your particular situation, you might be able obtain an employer specific work permit or an open work permit.
Most employer specific work permits will require a positive Labour Market Impact assessment (LMIA) which means you require a valid job offer to be eligible. In other situations, you could be eligible for an open work permit which means you are allowed to work for any employer and an LMIA is not required
Some examples of obtainable open work permits are;
- Post Graduate Work Permit (PGWP)
- Temporary Work Permits for Spouses or Partners of students or workers
- Bridging Open Work Permit (BOWP)
The Temporary foreign Worker Program helps employers recruit foreign nationals to fill labour shortages. In this situation, work permits obtained are employer specific and usually require a Labour Market Impact Assessment. (LMIA)
