Study

Student Visa

Are you looking to study in Canada as an international student? You might require a study permit for courses longer than 6 months. To get a study permit, you must be eligible and admissible. There are many factors that will determine your eligibility. Your study permit is not a visa. It doesn’t let you enter Canada. You may also need a visitor visa or an electronic travel authorization (eTA). If your study permit is approved, a visitor visa or electronic travel authorisation (eTA) will be issued with it.

There are certain foreign nationals or situations where a foreign national will not require a study permit to study in Canada, these include;

Post Graduate Work Permit

If you have studied at a designated learning Institution with a valid study permit that led to a degree, diploma or certificate for at lease 8 months, you might be eligible for a post graduate work permit. It is important that you remain in good standing throughout the duration of your course.

You can apply for a PGWP if:

  • your study permit is still valid
  • you have a valid visitor record
  • you submitted an application to extend your study permit before it expired andno decision has been made on your application
  • you submitted an application to change your status to visitor before your study permit expired andno decision has been made on your application
